Before you pay for it
Questions from the dock
- Do guests need an account?
- No. A guest picks a date and a trip, types a name, email, phone and party size, checks the waiver, and pays the deposit by card. The confirmation email is the record.
- What does the guest pay today?
- Your deposit percent — 20 to 30% is typical, Harbor Light runs 25%. On a $650 half-day that is $162.50 today and $487.50 at the dock. There is no booking fee on top for the guest.
- What happens when you call weather?
- One button in the captain desk. The guest gets a full refund or a new date, and the email says which. Light rain is not an automatic cancel; that call stays yours.
- Do I need Stripe?
- For card deposits, yes. Deposits run through Stripe Checkout, and once your Stripe Express account is connected they settle to you. The $39 plan is billed the same way.
- What does DockBook cost?
- $39 a month for the calendar, the public booking page, deposit checkout and emails. No commission per trip and no per-guest fee.
